Flying Shot

Using AF-C (Autofocus Continuous) really help me keep her in focus while the performer was flying around. Doing this with manual focus would have made this very difficult as the performer distance kept change.

Photoshoot

Our Wedding photographer/Cousin came down this week from San Fransisco to do a family photo shoot for my Grandma. She'll be going back to the Philippines next month to stay with the family back there. I had the candid camera so I took all the behind the scenes and unofficial shots.

Nap Time!

Wife took me to the zoo for my birthday and it was a blast especially with a 200mm in hand. Never really tried taking pictures of animals before and I thought it was gonna be tricky because of movement but instead I guess it was nap time. The 200mm helps get into the cages and blowout the backgrounds on close shots...

Play Time!

Can always count on a game of Pusoy Dos to kill some time. I remember teaching a special someone how to play this game years ago and now shes has become quite a tactician. Making her a rather difficult opponent. I like this shot because it was one of those spur of the moment opportunities and the resulting image to my surprise was enjoyable. Much like our games in the past.

Water & Iron

This was the main fountain by a tequila & cigar bar my wife and I relaxed at in the evenings. Our hotel had a few iron statues spread throughout the property, much like the ones seen here.

Night Sky

Shooting things at night can be slightly... troublesome especially when focusing on a single object. It could take a few attempts to get a clear pictures. These few shots I was playing with an extended shutter speeds with some as long as 15sec and what I was looking for was that blurring effect... What I noticed when I got home and took a closer look is that the night sky just pop out causing another focal point.

Iron Work

Iron being a man made material is very cold, unlike wood which is a natural material it is perceived as very warm. When I first took this shot in a restaurant it look very bland and wasn't pleased with it. So, played around with different white balances and found the candle light setting to make this picture appear warmer giving this man made material the glow it needed.

"Perfect Shot"

Isn't funny how the "Perfect Shot" is always captured when you are least expecting it. This shot is one of my fav's. Arrived at Sunset Cliffs a few hours before sunset and started shooting some pictures and as the sun got closer to vanishing behind the horizon I still wasn't satisfied with any of them. Getting frustrated, knowing I'm running out of time I just flopped down and sat in the sand and captured this shot. Ahhh... Finally!

Lighting the Way

The interesting thing about having a puppy now, is the late night walks around my neighborhood. I found this pathway one night and thought this might make for a nice shot but of course I didn't have my camera on me that night so had to wait until the following night to take it. Don't think I would have ever discovered this location if it wasn't for the pup....

I try not to edit any of my pictures and if i do I like to stick to "in camera" functions. Sometimes its fun to mess around...
